Job Description The Field Generator Technician provides technical expertise as part of a team for the repair and maintenance of natural‑gas‑powered generators and other supporting equipment. The Technician develops, refines, and optimizes maintenance programs to reduce fleet costs and maximize reliability. Field Generators develop and document procedures to maintain the Mesa standard across field offices and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams on product improvements and new product development.

Essential Duties

Performs maintenance services on Mesa units in accordance with the Mesa standard.

Maintains unit records by thoroughly recording service/repair tasks and parts used.

Troubleshoots problems and resolves them in a timely manner.

Provides superior customer service.

Verifies and ensures unit serviceability by following service checklists.

Updates professional knowledge through constant study of Mesa units.

Maintains the Mesa standard in all aspects of responsibilities.

Performs all duties safely and effectively according to company policies and procedures.

Maintains a clean and organized work environment at all times.

Transmits information and documents with work computer and phone.

Maintains a professional personal appearance.

Helps provide a positive team spirit daily.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education – Required

High school or equivalent and mechanical specialty course.

Education – Preferred

Trade school graduate with engine and mechanical focus.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year university.

Experience – Required

Experience operating ¾ – 1‑ton service trucks.

Trailer pulling experience.

Experience – Preferred

2–3 years of related experience.

Honorably discharged service veterans.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.

Handles frequent interruptions and conflict effectively.

Willing to learn new processes and business functions.

Familiar with basic hand tools and standard and metric systems.

Understanding of electricity and associated hazards (preferred).

Proficient with engine troubleshooting tools including engine control modules and gaseous fuel systems (preferred).

Physical Demands

Sitting, standing, walking or moving throughout facility.

Driving, talking, seeing, hearing, using hands, bending, stooping, squatting or crouching, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling.

Occasional climbing into confined spaces that may contain hazardous gas.

Regularly lifting and/or moving up to 25 lbs; occasionally more than 50 lbs.

Working Conditions

Work in confined spaces.

May be exposed to hazardous chemicals and gases.

Travel to and from customer sites in company service truck.

Work outdoors; in extreme cold and/or heat.

Computer, phone.

Additional Job Requirements

Pass a WorkSTEPS physical.

High level of professionalism and discretion; customer‑focused attitude.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
