Job Summary
Under the supervision of the UCSF BCH –UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals Nurse Manager the Clinical Nurse II – Practice Nurse in the Pediatrics Hemophilia Treatment Center is responsible for providing direct and indirect clinical care to pediatric outpatients who have a variety of sickle cell disorders. Care is provided through the systematic application of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. All components of this process are individualized to meet the physiological, psychosocial, and developmental needs of the patients. The Pediatrics Sickle Cell Nurse performs ongoing assessments and modifies the care planning process as needed, to ensure continuity of care between inpatient, outpatient, homecare, home, and multiple providers. The Pediatric Sickle Cell Nurse is actively involved in patient, staff, and provider education. (S)he participates in clinical research activities within the program and incorporates research findings into planning and implementation of care. Required Qualifications
2 years of outpatient sickle cell RN experience required Demonstrated knowledge and skills essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, think critically and communicate calmly in complex situations Must be comfortable navigating and documenting in multiple electronic systems Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to properly triage Hematology patients via telephone call and in person Demonstrated leadership experience Masters degree in nursing with a pediatric focus is preferred. At least one year of experience in an outpatient clinic setting. License/Certification
