Apply skills and job knowledge within the area of specialization, adapt procedures and equipment with minimal supervision, and resolve non-routine tasks. Essential Functions
Respond to calls, calm and restrain residents, and maintain surveillance of volatile situations. Patrol campus and outbuildings, enforce safety policies, conduct searches for contraband, and report security hazards. Escort residents, assist housing staff with domestic disturbances, drug/alcohol incidents, and fire alarms. Investigate vandalism, theft, and incidents on university-owned properties, and prepare written reports. Communicate security needs to university departments, Boise Police, and other agencies. Deliver safety presentations, support housing and academic staff during interviews, and represent the university at campus and off‑campus events. Respond to fire, intrusion, and panic alarms, assess the cause, and reset alarm panels. Review security camera footage as part of investigative processes. Provide outstanding customer service to the entire campus community and engage in departmental problem‑solving. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of security equipment, policies, and procedures. Effective communication skills. Self‑defense measures, First Aid/CPR/AED, and safety hazard knowledge. Basic computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite). Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Exercise discretion with confidential matters. Minimum Qualifications
Good knowledge of building security procedures, experience with fire and life‑safety hazards, disturbance handling, writing business reports, and a current and valid Driver’s License. Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of security experience, preferably in a college or university setting. First Aid CPR certification. ICS 100, 200, and 700 training. Salary and Benefits
Salary of $25.30/hr. 12 paid holidays and closure between Christmas and New Year’s (3 vacation days required). 12–24 annual paid vacation days for full‑time staff. 10.76% university contribution to ORP retirement fund. 11.96% university contribution to PERSI retirement fund.
