Salary Range:

$22.00 per hour

About the Role The Resident Coordinator will oversee the property’s general maintenance, cleanliness, safety, crisis response, and conflict management. The role collaborates with the resident coordinator at the Radio House (another Roots to Grow transitional living site in Mar Vista) and reports to the Transitional Housing Supervisor. Evening and weekend hours may be required.

What You’ll Do

Perform daily house and property inspections to maintain curb appeal and resident safety.

Maintain inventory and storage of program supplies, including snacks, activity materials, cleaning supplies, laundry soaps, and office supplies.

Assist with program intakes and exits, preparing intake packets, files, and the youth’s living space.

Coordinate and ensure meal support in the program (e.g., food pantry donations).

Report all resident health, safety, maintenance, or other concerns to appropriate managers in a timely manner and track outcomes.

Build relationships with residents, support their success, solve problems, enforce house rules, and provide crisis response and conflict resolution.

Communicate emerging and outstanding issues to the Housing Programs Manager; collaborate with case managers to resolve them.

Coordinate on‑site volunteer services.

Create and provide resource lists to help residents access neighborhood amenities.

Coordinate and implement on‑site educational, life‑skills, and healing‑arts programs with staff, community partners, or volunteers.

Assist in preparing required program reports.

Drive Safe Place for Youth vehicles to transport residents to services and community activities.

Work within established legal and ethical guidelines.

Be available for night and weekend shifts as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the organization’s mission.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is preferred; related work or lived experience is strongly considered.

Minimum of 2 years of experience providing direct services to high‑risk transition‑age youth is preferred.

Knowledge of child and adolescent development, trauma‑informed care, and harm‑reduction models.

Commitment to the mission, vision, values, and culture of Safe Place for Youth.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment requiring effective collaboration with multiple organizations and individuals.

Valid California driver’s license, auto insurance, and ability to transport clients; driving is essential.

Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.

Subject to criminal and driving background checks.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer work. Changes in environment, including indoor and outdoor settings. Physical effort such as lifting up to 15–20 pounds may be required.

Special Conditions Mandated Reporting Requirements The Resident Coordinator is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017.

COVID‑19 Vaccination Requirements Effective August 9, 2021 the State Health Officer requires all workers in homeless service organizations to provide proof of vaccination. If not fully vaccinated, weekly COVID‑19 testing is required. Submit proof to

Driver Positions Applicants must provide a copy of their driving record from the DMV, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance. Offer contingent on satisfactory driving record. Unsatisfactory records include:

Suspended or revoked license

Three or more moving violations in the past 36 months

Violations involving drugs, alcohol, or controlled substances within the past 24 months

Reckless driving, including hit‑and‑runs, within the past 24 months

At‑fault accidents resulting in fatality or serious injury within the past 5 years

The vehicle record must review all states listed in the applicant’s form.
