Overview
The Worship Pastor at The River Community Church provides spiritual and pastoral leadership to the congregation through biblically faithful, Christ‑centered worship. Through music, prayer, Scripture, and the creative use of audio and technology, the Worship Pastor leads the church family in responding to God with genuine and authentic worship, both on and off the platform.
This role exists to glorify God by leading people into a deeper, lasting relationship with Jesus Christ and by cultivating a culture of worship that spans all generations and ministries of the church. The Worship Pastor will shepherd worship and production volunteers, oversee the worship ministry across all environments (kids, students, college, adults, and special events), and provide vision and direction for the worship and audio ministries in alignment with the mission and values of River Community Church.
The Worship Pastor is ultimately a worshiper who invites others to join him in seeking the Lord and discerning His will for the next season of ministry at The River.
Principal Function The Worship Pastor is responsible to the church for the development and promotion of the music programs of the church. He will also oversee the technology typically used in worship services and train and enlist volunteers to serve on the Worship Team. This is a full‑time position.
Responsibilities
Meet regularly with the Pastor and Ministerial Staff for planning, evaluating, and coordinating ministries of the church.
Work with staff to achieve the objectives of the church.
Participate in pastoral care including in‑reach and outreach.
Plan, organize, conduct, and enlist workers/volunteers for music programs.
Lead a praise band that traditionally has played “blended” worship sets; traditionally includes hymns and praise songs in set‑lists.
Develop and lead a choir.
Develop and lead the RHBC praise team.
Coordinate with the Pastor in selecting music for regular and special worship services—weddings, funerals, and special events.
Monitor the purchasing of all music and worship technologies/software.
Be proficient in software/programs used in worship services (CCLI, Song Select, ProPresenter, etc.).
Assist in preparing the annual budget for worship, technology, and other music‑related line items.
Lead in preparation of holiday worship programs (primarily Christmas and Easter).
