General Statement of Duties
Closing Date: This position closes on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Assists in maintaining a complex system of accounts and records and performs varied and moderate-to-difficult professional accounting work; does related work as required.
Essential Duties Serves as Accountant II in the Henrico Circuit Court Clerk's Office. Work experience in the Court system or the legal field is highly desired.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Performs daily financial activities such as accounts payable/accounts receivables
Makes bank deposits and prepares disbursement checks and other financial documents
Assists in budget preparation and review (County and State)
Assists in preparing and providing information for state and local auditors
Prepares financial and statistical reports, as needed
Prepares daily deposits and daily bank reconciliation
Opens and closes investment accounts
Makes entries recording investment maturities and interest earned
Reviews assessment of fines, costs, and restitution
Updates automated financial management system
Composes written correspondence in response to requests from other agencies, attorneys and the public
Orders office supplies and maintains inventory level
Performs a myriad of other duties and/or special projects as necessary at the discretion of the Clerk of Circuit Court
Demonstrated skills in:
Oral/written communication
Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
Meeting strict deadlines
Attention to detail
Outstanding public relations/customer service skills
Minimum Qualifications Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting, and two (2) years of related successful professional accounting experience, OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Additional Information A bachelor's degree with some work experience in the Court system or the legal field is preferred.
A criminal history record check and fingerprinting is conducted on all persons conditionally offered employment, including a conditional offer of initial employment, or a conditional offer to promote, demote, or laterally transfer an employee.
