Title: Production Leader
Required Shift: 12 Hour Days B Shift Rotating Shift (2-2-3 Rotation)
Week 1: On Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday (Off Wednesday & Thursday)
Week 2: On Wednesday & Thursday (Off Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday)
The Production Leader is a shift-based, front-line operations people leader with on average around 15 direct reports. The Production Leader drives safety, quality, continuous improvement, performance management, associate development, team engagement and operating results. The Production Leader is responsible for building an effective team and managing the training and organizational strategies.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
3+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting
2+ years in a people management or leader role
Working knowledge in a GMP and continuous improvement environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, etc.), internet software, e-mail
Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting/carrying pushing (10-50 lbs) and pushing/pulling (50-300 lbs)
Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, handling and gripping
Ability to work at elevated heights, climb stairs, lean over equipment and work in confined spaces
Ability to stand and/or work on feet for extended periods (minimum eight hours in one shift)
Ability to read, write and speak English
Preferred Qualifications
A degree related to Engineering, basic sciences, or technical discipline
4+ years in a manufacturing setting
3+ years in a people manager position
Functional knowledge and understanding of HACCP concepts
Experience in plant sanitation practices and procedures
OSHA experience or certification
Key Responsibilities
Manage and lead your team while following production, quality, and safety standards as well as the 5 Principles
Recommend and implement continuous improvement changes and strategies in methods, equipment, and systems
Lead or participate in Mars Supply Excellence (MSE) Pillars: autonomous maintenance (AM), autonomous work teams (AWTs), preventive maintenance (PM)
Repair and troubleshoot process/packaging equipment problems
Coordinate materials, staffing and resources to support line operation and changeovers
Manage associate relations related to hiring, training, coaching, engaging, retaining, developing and performance of direct reports to build their functional and leadership capabilities
Proactively identify risks and opportunities as well as reactively lead on‑shift incident
Participate in the implementation of improvement strategies that will help the line/area perform more effectively
