Job Title Nurse Clinical/UKHC/ 7P / Medicine / Pulmonary – Requisition No. NR14424 – Grade 10 – Full‑Time, Staff Position – Lexington, KY

Required Education Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license – Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state RN license in good standing plus American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification (valid for at least 6 months after employment).

No additional experience required.

Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.

Shift Three 12‑hour shifts (Days – 7 AM‑7 30 PM or Nights – 7 PM‑7 30 AM); 36 hours per week with occasional weekend and holiday work.

Job Summary Registered Nurses in the Adult Medicine Services Pavilion A – 10th‑floor Acute/Progressive Universal Care – provide care for adult patients who are moderately stable, with fluctuating patient acuity, complex needs, and comprehensive care. Patient care includes frequent assessment of pulmonary, renal, cardiac, vascular, and neurological conditions. The RN serves as an essential member of the interdisciplinary progressive care team, monitoring physiologic status, performing frequent treatments, and ensuring safe transition from intensive care to progressive/acute care.

Responsibilities

Provide total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care: assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate a comprehensive nursing plan of care.

Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.

Train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant).

Adhere to University policies and procedures and federal, state and local regulations.

Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and patient outcomes.

Utilize the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient‑centered plan of care.

Knowledge of Maslow’s Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns Frame Work, and Swanson’s Caring Model.

Superior direct patient care and critical thinking skills.

Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.

Strong communication, organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.

Motivated, proactive, confident advocate for patients and families.

Excellent technical skills with proven ability to work independently and in a team.

Preferred Education/Experience BSN + at least 1 year of RN experience.
