Overview

We are working alongside a reputable, union‑signatory contractor with over 20 years of experience delivering civil infrastructure and mechanical systems for both public and private owners. With a strong backlog of site development, utility, and pump‑related projects, the company is looking to hire a detail‑oriented estimator who can confidently support competitive bids from concept through submission. This contractor is known for self‑performing key scopes—including concrete flatwork, foundations, and masonry—while partnering with trade subcontractors for structural steel, fencing, and other specialties. The role is ideal for someone with a background in mechanical utility or civil concrete estimating, who enjoys working in a collaborative, boots‑on‑the‑ground culture.

What You’ll Be Doing

Develop detailed quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns across civil, structural, and mechanical scopes.

Review project documents, specs, and design changes to identify risks and estimate scope accurately.

Coordinate pricing and proposals with vendors, subcontractors, and internal operations teams.

Support strategy development in pre‑bid meetings, site walks, and proposal reviews.

Prepare bids for pump stations, lift stations, wet utility systems, and water infrastructure projects.

Collaborate with field teams to validate labor rates, production factors, and constructability.

Maintain cost history records and support improvements to internal estimating templates/tools.

Assist in post‑award handoffs including scope reviews and early‑stage procurement.

Types of Work You’ll Estimate

Underground wet utilities: storm, sewer, water mains.

Pump and lift stations, tanks, and water infrastructure.

Concrete scopes: pads, flatwork, retaining walls, foundations.

Park improvements, athletic fields, and site development.

R&R street improvement work, public infrastructure upgrades.

What You Bring

Strong understanding of self‑perform concrete or mechanical utility scopes.

Ability to interpret detailed construction drawings, specs, and addenda.

Familiarity with union labor requirements, prevailing wage laws, and public bid procedures.

Organized and deadline‑driven with strong communication skills.

(Bonus) Past experience in the field or operations adds valuable context.

Compensation & Perks

Full medical, dental, and vision coverage.

401(k) with employer match.

Supportive leadership and mentorship for long‑term growth.
