Tag Staff Lead Girl Scouts of Central Indiana serves 45 Indiana counties, nearly more than 16,000 Girl Scouts and 10,000 adult volunteers. We are the proud facilitators of Girl Scout camp at five Indiana locations, conveners of thousands of Girl Scout programs with nearly 600 community partners and serve thousands more community members each year at our STEM Center of Excellence and Founders Lodge Event and Conference Center.

About The Role The Tag Staff Lead will supervise and be responsible for planning, teaching, and coordinating activities in the Tag Unit.

What You Will Do

Supervise and evaluate the Tag Unit Staff.

Provide opportunities for the unit so that each individual camper experiences success during camp.

Maintain Tag Unit hours.

Maintain guidelines for all staff during scheduled activities (i.e., all staff must swim with the children, etc.).

Help provide for the physical health and safety and the mental welfare of the campers.

Teach camping skills and appreciation of the out‑of‑doors.

Guide activities and experiences in the unit through use of scheduled activities provided by Day Camp Directors and activities that have been planned in Staff Training.

Assist program staff, craft staff, kitchen staff in special events and programs involving campers.

Help Tag Supervisor with scheduling of activities as well as unit staff time off.

Assume responsibility for physical health and safety and the mental welfare of the campers. Be responsible for unit cleaning at the end of each session and at the end of camp.

Keep attendance records and make daily reports as required.

Makes every effort to have a strong, cohesive staff team to provide the best program and atmosphere for the campers.

Set a good example for others in the areas of cleanliness, sanitation, punctuality, sharing, clean‑up, sportsmanship, and manners.

Participate in all camp events.

Follow camp rules and regulations.

Establish break schedule for Staff (30‑minute break daily, lunch break, and additional break time on the evening of the overnight.) The staff will be more successful when breaks are incorporated into the daily schedule.

While spending the night on Thursday nights Tag Staff will stay with campers and provide supervision throughout the night.

These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassessed, and other duties may be assigned as required.

What We Are Looking For

At least 18 years old.

Current certification in First Aid and CPR.

Experience working with children.

Ability to work as a team member.

Ability to teach and guide campers.

Able to communicate effectively with staff and campers.

Possess enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self‑control.

Readiness and ability to adapt to camp work situations.

Ability to make immediate and appropriate decisions in a crisis and deal with emergency situations.

Must hold membership in the Girl Scout organization and subscribe to the tenets of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Ability to stand on your feet for an extended period.

Ability to lift to 40 pounds.

Ability to tolerate exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
