Job Description and Duties The Labor Market Information Division is seeking a Research Data Supervisor II to manage the Occupational Survey Group (OSG), overseeing the administration of the Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) Program, which is conducted under a federal‑state cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The OSG Manager will be responsible for utilizing positive leadership skills in coaching and leading two program units, each responsible for conducting surveys designed to collect occupational employment and wage data from California employers.
The Research Data Supervisor II directly supervises two Research Data Supervisor I positions, one Research Data Specialist II, and one Research Data Specialist I. Responsibilities include assigning projects, providing direction, monitoring progress, conducting performance reviews, promoting staff development, and handling administrative duties that support strategic and operational planning, succession planning, budget development and management, personnel practices and recruitment, internal control procedures, and review of legislation affecting the division’s programs. The supervisor serves as a departmental representative at meetings and conferences, provides consultative services to the Department and other entities using LMI products, and delivers presentations to staff, senior management, executive management, and other internal and external customers.
Position is located at 9323 Tech Center Drive, Suite 1000, Sacramento, CA 95826. Free parking and close to light rail.
Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% – 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month.
