Banquet Captain Job Description We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Banquet Captain to join our team. The ideal candidate will have exceptional leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for delivering outstanding service. As a Banquet Captain, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating banquet events, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and guests have an memorable experience.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate all banquet events, including weddings, corporate events, and other special occasions
Work closely with the banquet manager and event planner to ensure all event details are executed flawlessly
Lead and direct the banquet team, including servers, bartenders, and setup staff, to ensure excellent service and efficiency
Greet and interact with guests, ensuring their needs are met and resolving any issues promptly
Oversee the setup and breakdown of event spaces, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, and decorations
Ensure that food and beverage service is timely and of high quality
Monitor inventory levels of banquet supplies and coordinate with the kitchen and bar staff as needed
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations
Train and mentor banquet staff, providing ongoing support and guidance
Handle cash and card transactions accurately when required
Assist with post-event cleanup and ensure all equipment is stored properly
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Proven experience as a banquet captain or in a similar leadership role within the hospitality industry
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of food and beverage service standards
Attention to detail and a commitment to providing exceptional service
Ability to handle stressful situations and resolve conflicts effectively
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Education in hospitality management is a plus
General Physical Demands for the Position Banquet Captains will regularly stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, turn, lift, walk, and carry and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
