Job Description Polysomnographic Technician:
The Polysomnographic Tech interacts with patients, families, physicians, staff and equipment to document and treat suspected sleep disorders in a safe and caring environment. Responsible for patient set up, acquisition and starting the polysomnographic acquisition in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with physician orders. Executes scoring of testing parameters according to department standards and correctly implements treatment options for sleep apnea. This position demonstrates competency in all sleep tests to include: Polysomnography, PAP titrations, oxygen titrations, MSLT, MWT and HST.
Polysomnographic Assistant:
The Polysomnographic Tech Assistant is an entry‑level position that requires the individual to work under the direct supervision of a registered technologist. This individual will assist in tasks such as room preparation, patient set‑up and associated interventions while helping with other tasks that are necessary for patient comfort and safety during patient sleep tests. Performs and recognizes the need for routine maintenance of sleep equipment to consistently maintain quality results.

Polysomnographic Technician
Education:
Required: High School Diploma; Preferred: Associate’s Degree in an allied health related field.
Experience:
Preferred: Minimum one year experienced as an RPSGT or RRT.
Skills:
Strong clinical decision making, basic computer skills, strong communication skills, ability to work independently.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Required: RPSGT or SDS or registered through ABSM, BRPT, or NBRC and must obtain RPSGT or SDS within 1 year of hire; Preferred: REEGT or RRT.
Polysomnographic Assistant
Education:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Required: At least 1 year experience in a healthcare setting.
Skills:
Strong clinical decision making, basic computer skills, strong communication skills.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
N/A.
