Position Details Season Dates: February 9, 2026 – May 9, 2026 Salary: $2,431.00 Positions: 3 (1 - 1.0 FTE, 2 - 0.5 FTE)

All coaches must be a district approved volunteer. Please also apply for the assistant coach position.

Purpose Statement The job of Assistant Coach is to design and implement program activities, supervise student athletes, provide instruction, and serve as a positive role model to students, the community, and various organizations. Individuals in this job classification are assigned to a position for a specific sport at the Varsity, JV/Frosh, or Junior High level. This job reports to the Athletic Director.

Essential Functions

Assesses student athletes for performance feedback and team placement.

Attends meetings, workshops, conferences, and other events to receive and convey information related to the role.

Communicates with parents, students, officials, administrators, and the community to provide information, assistance, and direction.

Instructs student athletes to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Maintains records (e.g., game statistics, insurance, permission forms, emergency information, schedules, equipment inventories) in compliance with district, athletic conference, and state requirements.

Manages uniforms, equipment, and school facilities to maintain items safely and responsibly.

Monitors student athletes’ academic eligibility and provides counseling or tutoring to those needing assistance to maintain eligibility.

Supervises student athletes during all areas of participation to ensure activities are conducted in an environment with minimal risk of injury.

Teaches sports techniques, playing rules, strategies, and tactics to prepare the team and individual athletes for competition.

Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the team and the broader athletic department.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Adaptability to changing work priorities.

Administration of first aid and application of relevant laws, codes, policies, and regulations.

Organization and communication of information.

Basic math (fractions, percentages, ratios) and analysis of situations to define issues and draw conclusions.

Knowledge of equipment used in programs, injury prevention and treatment protocols, athlete eligibility guidelines, public relations protocols, professional standards, safety practices, and procedures.

Scheduling activities, meetings, and events; gathering and collating data; and operating equipment using defined methods.

Effective communication with diverse individuals and groups; exhibiting strong leadership; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; modeling sportsmanship; motivating athletes; enforcing discipline; setting priorities; working extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

Work under limited supervision following standardized practices.

Direct other persons within a small work unit.

Utilize resources from other work units as required.

Work Environment Physical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. The job requires approximately 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing, with exposure to temperature extremes and risk of injury and illness.

Experience Job‑related experience is required.

Education High school diploma or equivalent.
