Job Summary
Tatum Consulting project for an Interim CFO / Carve-out Specialist. The project duration is projected to be 6+ months in length. The Interim CFO will be responsible for leading the financial separation and standing up the finance function for a recent carve‑out, PE‑backed manufacturing and assembly business. This is a highly technical and execution‑focused role, requiring a proven track record in complex corporate separations and deep expertise in technical accounting. Carve‑out Leadership & Execution
Lead the Full Carve‑out Cycle:
Drive Day 1 readiness, manage the Transitional Services Agreement (TSA), and establish the complete standalone finance function. Develop and Implement Carve‑out Strategy:
Create and execute a detailed carve‑out “game plan” and checklist, providing hands‑on support in every step of the separation process. Navigate Technical Complexity:
Manage the separation of heavily integrated corporate functions, including IT systems and a common instance of Salesforce, under tight timelines. Technical Accounting:
Provide expert oversight and application of technical accounting principles, specifically in
Revenue Recognition
and
Percentage of Completion (PoC)
accounting. Optimize Lean Operations:
Develop and implement a standalone finance structure that leverages the existing small, lean team and effectively manages offshored functions without recommending significant new supporting staff. Interim CFO / Financial Management
Financial Reporting & Systems:
Stand up or remediate core ERP and reporting systems to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting for the standalone entity. Cash and Liquidity Management:
Manage cash, develop robust cash forecasting models, and ensure high visibility for the Private Equity sponsor and lenders. Audit & Compliance:
Oversee the final audit, manage diligence activities pre‑close, and handle post‑close integration efforts. Leadership & Communication:
Build and lead a multi‑site finance team, demonstrating hands‑on, stabilizing leadership. Act as the primary financial communicator to the new CEO, PE Sponsor/Board, and executives. Manufacturing Finance:
Navigate modest manufacturing and industrial complexity, including costing, multi‑entity accounting, and operational visibility improvements. Qualifications
Must have Multiple successes as a Carve Out CFO:
Extensive, hands‑on experience leading complex corporate carve‑outs, preferably from a publicly traded parent company. Technical Acumen:
Deep expertise in technical accounting, with specific, recent experience in Revenue Recognition and Percentage of Completion. PE Environment:
Proven ability to thrive in a high‑change, Private Equity‑backed environment. Geographic:
Must be willing to travel to the
Atlanta, GA, area . Sector Knowledge:
Experience with manufacturing or assembly companies is highly preferred. Skills
