Summary
Be a part of history! The Naval Academy is actively recruiting for tour guides. In this role you will share the story of the Academy with visitors and be an ambassador for Naval Academy Guide Services.
Responsibilities
Conduct public and group tours, welcoming domestic and international visitors into the USNA.
Provide accurate and interesting information on USNA history, midshipman life and the USNA Complex.
Maintain a working knowledge of current events involving the USNA and the City of Annapolis.
Adapt tours to groups of different ages and cultures to provide informative and entertaining experiences.
Lead various specialty tours: Historical, educational, leadership, military reunion, Jewish Chapel, Navy Way Boot Camp and others.
Attend staff meetings, training programs, certification seminars and familiarization tours as required.
Facilitate large‑group tours when needed, including Chapel and Crypt of John Paul Jones during spring educational tour season.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
At least 6 months experience leading groups and presenting tours in English; experience with specialty tours preferred.
Physical endurance for walking tours up to 2 hours; ability to endure climatic elements.
Strong memory for facts, dates and figures; project voice; represent USNA non‑politically and non‑confrontationally.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; male applicants born after Dec 31, 1959 must register for Selective Service.
Verification of employment eligibility required; must understand and communicate in English.
Probationary period and flexible employment terms based on business needs.
