Job Summary

This position assists the Sheriff with the provision of services and duties as related to guardian and conservatorships of Lee County residents as ordered by the Judge of Probate. Pay Range

$44,666.75 - $53,600.10 Hours of Availability

Monday-Friday, some varied hours Work Location

Admin. Essential Job Functions

Assesses the financial, medical, psychological, vocational, and social background of persons placed under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff as Public Guardian or Conservator. Develops care plans which address the clients’ assessed needs and level of functioning, reviews such plans on an on‑going basis and modifies as appropriate. Works with community health care workers, case workers, mental health workers, legal representatives, law enforcement, realtors, estate planners, Social Security Administration, private organizations, and other county, city, state, or federal agency in arranging services and coordinating case matters in the administration of probate of estates, in the best interest of the client. Arranges and/or provides physical support for clients such as housing and transportation. Assists in balancing multiple accounts for clients. Assists clients with payment of monthly expenses. Assists clients in making and tracking medical decisions and treatments. Collects client information to complete Medicaid applications. Assists in the process to move and sign client into nursing facility. Maintains contact with clients to monitor situations, identify problems, and provide for needed social services; makes home visits in connection with casework assignments. Explains conservatorship to proposed conservatees and wards, their families, and other involved persons or agencies. Prepares report of findings and recommendations to the court as needed; represents the Sheriff in court as necessary. Prepares and maintains comprehensive, accurate and timely case reports, records, and correspondence, maintains confidentiality. Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of basic accounting and finance practices. Knowledge of the principles and practices of records and case management. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to guardianship and conservatorship. Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in preparing clear and concise reports. Skill in public and interpersonal relations. Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion. Qualities

High school diploma / GED and 1 year of related experience, or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver’s license. Benefits
