Hanover, NH 03755 – 5 Rope Ferry Rd Third Floor Position Purpose
Serve as a Shift Supervisor, providing shift coverage and management of shift operations including safety patrol, dispatching and night security for the College. Responsibilities
Supervise officers, dispatchers, night security and students during assigned shifts. Train new employees in departmental procedures, policies, practices and routines. Monitor and evaluate work performances, ensuring productivity and performance are maintained. Identify personnel performance issues, counsel or provide written documentation to upper management. Communicate management policies and instructions, relay employee concerns. Oversee smooth operation of shift, enforce safety and security procedures. Ensure patrol coverage, assign personnel to duties, patrol sectors. Maintain communication and regular contact with all personnel. Spend significant time in the field supervising, leading by example, and assisting with foot patrol, vehicle patrol, details, physical security checks. Conduct shift meetings and brief staff on events affecting duties. Ensure all reports, documentation and logs are completed accurately and timely. Ensure electronic and video equipment functions properly. Keep Director informed of any personnel or operations concerns. Provide leadership and direction during emergencies. Perform additional duties as assigned. Participate in special assignments such as scheduling, statistics, crime prevention, training coordination, electronic access control, dispatch center manuals, and departmental response procedures. Maintain current knowledge of departmental policies and protocols, oversee incidents, conduct investigations, report to Director. Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalency. Four or more years of relevant safety or law enforcement experience. Valid driver's license and qualification under Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Knowledge of computer software applications and electronic/radio operations. Knowledge of regulations and policies related to safety and security. Ability to drive vehicle as an essential function. Preferred Qualifications
