Job Summary Supervises, plans and coordinates routine and preventive maintenance and repairs. Promotes efficient, economical, continuous and safe operation of overall facilities, products and equipment. Contributes to meeting the mission and goals of the hospital and all other applicable regulatory and/or accrediting agencies.

Compensation We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The wage range for this position is $87,931.37 – $124,138.41 annually. This range reflects the base salary for this position.

Key Accountabilities

Report to their supervisor regarding the physical and structural conditions of all organizational facilities and the status of work in progress.

Develops, evaluates and implements departmental policies and procedures, goals and objectives, standards of work for the maintenance and repair buildings and building systems.

Monitors departmental personnel matters including interviewing and hiring of new staff, training, evaluating work performance, promotion, counseling, discipline and termination.

Administers and implements the preventive maintenance program to ensure uninterrupted operation of the entire physical plant. Monitors its applications to assure maximum effectiveness and provides appropriate documentation of the same.

Coordinates the repairs of equipment or recommends the replacement or additions to equipment or physical plant as necessary.

Works closely with other departments and administration to prioritize, negotiate, plan work schedules, order materials, supplies and parts. Recommends use of outside specialty contractors as circumstances indicate.

Schedules and supervises maintenance repair work, alterations, remodeling, minor construction and the checkout, installation and servicing of mechanical and electrical equipment and building systems.

Maintains an inventory of parts and supplies to maximize the operational readiness of hospital building systems and equipment with due respect to the limitations of cost, regulations and relative priorities.

Responsible for the selection and coordination of all maintenance service contractors and ensures all contractual provisions are met along with established codes.

Ensures a preventive maintenance program for the fire alarm system is conducted according to National Fire Prevention Association criteria. Works with Manager of Emergency Management to develop policies and procedures related to fire and safety.

Oversee the daily performance of grounds care to assure a uniform and satisfactory landscaped appearance.

Demonstrates ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

2 yr. technical degree in Building Maintenance.

Minimum: State of Minnesota, First class engineer – class C – Boiler license.

Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure safe and effective communication in a healthcare environment

Crisis Prevention Institute Foundations Course Certification or obtain within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

5 years’ experience in hospital building maintenance

Strong organizational, interpersonal and computer skills.

Schedule

80 hours per two-week pay period

Monday through Friday, with flexible hours based on departmental needs
