Operations Supervisor
to drive our continued success!
Purpose of the role MHIRJ’s network of service centers, support offices and parts depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in the U.S. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the daily and overall operations of the aircraft maintenance department, covering safety, schedules, personnel and quality. They supervise maintenance performance to ensure work is performed in accordance with the Repair Station / Quality Manual / Site Operating Procedures and FARs.
Responsibilities
Supervise assigned aircraft maintenance employees.
Encourage and promote a safe work environment by overseeing a safety/security program which includes operation of support equipment, aircraft systems, 5S, general housekeeping and lean manufacturing.
Coordinate unscheduled aircraft maintenance and work performed at locations other than the Repair station’s fixed site.
Ensure regular safety/security audits are conducted and address discrepancies.
Oversee and manage resources to maximize productivity and minimize DOI.
Submit engineering support requests (REDs, RFEs, SRPSAs and installs) in direct support of operations for all product lines.
Act on behalf of the Customer Project Manager during absences.
Support UMT, e.g., coordination of tooling and parts, scheduling personnel, and aircraft return-to-service.
Administer team‑related policies & procedures.
Coordinate technical shop floor issues, such as engineering and specialized tooling requirements.
Perform supervisory responsibilities for assigned employees and area(s) including: Time‑keeping; accurate hours and attendance tracking.
Approval of timecards, employee leave and vacation requests.
Performance management and 30/60/90‑day reviews.
Opportunities for professional development and training.
Personnel decisions regarding hiring, disciplinary issues and salary adjustments.
Facilitate DMM meetings with all departments & shops.
Monitor housing and facilities for compliance with 14 CFR 145.103 and report insufficiencies.
Identify and communicate best practices; champion continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Minimum of 3 years’ experience performing aircraft heavy/line maintenance.
Minimum of 2 years leadership / supervisory / lead experience – preferably within aircraft maintenance.
Possess an A&P license or appropriate certification under FAR part 65.
Working knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (part 91, 121, 135, 145).
Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance inspection programs for jet aircraft.
Working knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety rules and regulations as they apply to aircraft maintenance operations.
Customer‑service mindset with strong verbal & written communication; ability to defuse situations with internal and external customers.
Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills; able to develop people and teams.
Planning and organization skills to prioritize and coordinate the workload of assigned employees across multiple projects.
Intermediate PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web‑based applications for maintenance work).
Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience in project management preferred.
Working knowledge of ISO/OHSAS management systems and resources preferred.
Enjoy working on commercial aircraft, growing professionally and being part of a team passionate about CRJs.
Comfortable with shift work; 24/7 operation with 12‑hour shifts (days, nights, weekends).
