A nursing opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse with Stepdown unit experience in a contract role based in Bath, ME. This position offers a dynamic 8-bed Special Care Unit (SCU) environment, providing care to patients requiring intermediate monitoring, often including ventilator support and vasoactive drips. Candidates will work either a 6 AM6 PM or 6 PM6 AM shift with a guaranteed 36 hours per week and a commitment to every other weekend. There is no mandatory call outside core hours, and occasional floating to the Medical-Surgical Emergency unit may be required. Key Responsibilities: Deliver comprehensive nursing care to SCU/Intermediate Care Unit patients, maintaining patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 4:1 Manage complex equipment including ventilators, ceiling lifts, plumb pumps, feeding and chest tubes, as well as SCD boots Administer and monitor vasoactive drips and other critical care interventions Collaborate proactively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high standards of patient care Document care accurately using an EPIC electronic medical record system Desired Qualifications and Experience: Active Registered Nurse licensure with a minimum of 5 years nursing experience Proven background in Stepdown, ICU, or SCU settings Proficiency in managing ventilated patients and vasoactive medications Strong team orientation with a proactive approach and commitment to quality Additional Details: Dress code requires navy blue scrubs Typical patient census includes SCU/IMC and medical-surgical swing patients on rare occasion About Bath, ME: Bath is a charming coastal city known for its rich maritime heritage, vibrant community, and scenic waterfronts.
