The
Senior Construction Estimator
is responsible for leading the estimating and preconstruction efforts for
large-scale commercial construction projects , including office buildings, mixed-use developments, healthcare, education, hospitality, and other complex facilities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring cost accuracy, risk mitigation, and budget alignment from concept through guaranteed maximum price (GMP) and final bid submission. The Senior Estimator will mentor junior estimators, manage subcontractor relationships, and collaborate closely with project executives, owners, architects, and engineers to drive successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Lead the preparation of
conceptual, schematic, design development, and final cost estimates
for large, complex commercial projects Develop and manage
project budgets, GMPs, and cost models Perform detailed
quantity takeoffs
and cost analyses across all trades, including structural, envelope, finishes, and MEP systems Solicit, analyze, and level
subcontractor and supplier pricing Identify
scope gaps, constructability issues, and cost risks
during preconstruction Lead and facilitate
value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
while maintaining design intent and quality Prepare and present estimates, budgets, and cost studies to
executive leadership and clients Track market conditions, labor availability, material pricing, and cost escalation trends Collaborate with project management teams to ensure seamless
handoff from preconstruction to construction Mentor and oversee junior estimators, ensuring estimating standards and accuracy are upheld Support project procurement strategies and early trade involvement
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in
Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture , or related field (or comparable experience) 8–12+ years
of construction estimating experience, with a strong focus on
large commercial projects Proven experience delivering estimates for projects exceeding
$25M–$100M+ Deep understanding of commercial building systems, construction means and methods, and sequencing Proficiency with estimating and preconstruction software such as
Bluebeam, OST, PlanSwift, Procore, Sage, or similar platforms Advanced
Excel
and cost reporting skills Strong knowledge of contract delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, GMP, CMAR) Ability to lead teams, manage deadlines, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Preferred Experience Experience xsgimln with
ground-up and major renovation commercial projects Familiarity with
LEED, sustainability, and energy-efficient building practices Experience working directly with owners and developers during early project phases Local market knowledge of subcontractors, labor conditions, and material suppliers
