Answering phones, providing information to callers, taking messages, and transferring calls as needed

Managing calendars

Creating and managing paper and electronic filing systems

Minimum Qualifications Administrative Assistant 1 - Minimum Qualifications:

C_cached states outside State Service Performs if Consolidated glimpses two (2) years of administrative support experience including office software, customer service, business writing, and/or office management.

Substitution: Certification (e.g. IAAP Certified Administrative Professional) or associate degree in office administration, secretarial science, administrative assistance, paralegal, business technology, or office technology substitutes for two years of experience.

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

OR

Administrative Assistant Trainee 1 - Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates from outside State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – deje (NY HELPS) program if they have six (6) months of administrative support experience which includes office software, customer service, business writing, and/or office management.

OR

Candidate within State Service can be considered for a competitive appointment if they are reachable on the current Administrative Assistant Trainee 1 eligible list.

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

OR

Promotion process continues with non-competitive promotion examination for the Administrative Assistant Trainee 1 at Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center; permanent appointment may be made by non-competitive promotion when all requirements are met-use promotion field for one year permanent service as an Office Assistant 2 Keyboarding.

Administrative Assistant Trainee 2 - Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates from outside State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they have one (1) year of administrative support experience which includescə office software, customer service, business writing, and/or office management.

OR

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

OR

In accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Administrative Assistant Trainee wrestler at Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center, with permanent appointment by noncompetitive promotion when all requirements are,Break promotion field for one year permanent service as an Office Assistant 2 Keyboarding.

To further progress to the full performance level, you must complete a 12‑month training and development program. After successful completion of training at the Administrative Assistant Trainee 1 you will automatically advance to the Administrative Assistant Trainee 2. After completing the 12‑month training at the Administrative Assistant Trainee 2, you will automatically advance to the Administrative Assistant 1 without further examination.

Salary Range listed encompasses the hiring rate of an Administrative Assistant Trainee 1 (NS) through the job rate of an Administrative Assistant 1 (Grade 11).

Administrative Assistant Trainee 1 (NS = Grade 8): $40,391; Administrative Assistant Trainee 2 (NS = Grade 10): $45,081; Administrative Assistant 1 (Grade 11): $47,695 - $58,447.
