Job Summary:
A Substitute School Nurse provides temporary healthcare services and support in a school setting during the absence of the regular school nurse. They ensure the health, safety, and well‑being of students and staff by addressing medical needs, responding to emergencies, and promoting a healthy school environment. They will leave proper communication for the primary nurse in this role to follow up on. This nurse will fill in for all nursing roles in the corporation as needed. This person will collaborate with the Director of Health and Wellness. Training and orientation will be provided.
Qualifications:
Current nursing license (RN or LPN) in the state of Indiana.
CPR and First Aid certification.
Knowledge of school health policies and procedures.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and handle emergencies calmly and efficiently.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in pediatric or school nursing.
Familiarity with chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, or allergies in children.
Basic computer skills for managing health records.
