The Gateway Region YMCA is one of the leading nonprofit charitable organizations in the St. Louis metropolitan region, dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving health and well‑being, and supporting and serving our neighbors. Responsibilities
Direct and supervise program activities to meet community needs and fulfill YMCA objectives.
Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and direct staff and volunteers as needed; review and evaluate staff performance.
Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
Establish new program activities and expand programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
Assist in marketing and distribution of program information; organize and schedule program registrations; review and process program scholarship applications.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events.
Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
Model relationship‑building skills in all interactions; respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Assist with Program Committee meetings.
Compile program statistics; monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and participation of programs.
Fulfill the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA through excellent customer service, creative problem‑solving, decision‑making, and stewardship of YMCA resources.
Fund‑raise for YMCA programs, including World Service, United Way, Annual Campaign, and related events.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
Dependable, punctual, organized, and creative.
Able to instruct clients and members in a noncompetitive, non‑intimidating manner.
Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational.
Serves as a good physical example and role model for a fit and healthy lifestyle.
Professional manner and appearance.
Knowledge of human anatomy and kinesiology.
Ability to maintain a steady growth in program services with a high percentage of returning participants.
Ability to oversee the administration of program services in a purposeful and coordinated manner.
Good public relations skills, sound financial conditions, and effective equipment management.
