Overview
A well-established Chicago-based general contractor is seeking an experienced
Project Manager
to lead a diverse portfolio of construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout. This individual will play a critical role in delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget while maintaining strong relationships with clients and project partners. The role offers exposure to a wide range of project types, including commercial, healthcare, education, municipal, industrial, mixed‑use, and other complex building environments.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all phases of construction projects, including preconstruction planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, execution, and closeout.
Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules and work plans to ensure timely delivery and proactive issue resolution.
Oversee project financial performance, including cost forecasting, buyout, change management, pay applications, and overall cost control.
Ensure jobsite activities comply with company standards, safety protocols, quality expectations, and contractual requirements.
Collaborate closely with superintendents and field teams to coordinate sequencing, logistics, and manpower planning.
Lead and mentor project engineers, assistant project managers, and other project staff, fostering professional development and accountability.
Identify and mitigate project risks while driving creative, solution‑oriented problem solving.
Maintain accurate and thorough project documentation, reporting, and client deliverables.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
5+ years of experience managing medium to large‑scale construction projects across a variety of market sectors.
Demonstrated success leading complex projects from preconstruction through completion, including ground‑up and major renovation work.
Strong understanding of construction means and methods, contracts, scheduling, and cost controls.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
Proficiency with industry‑standard project management and construction documentation software.
