Summary: Under minimal supervision using independent judgment and decision-making, supervises a team of electromechanical assemblers and testers to meet Company goals in the areas of quality, on-time delivery and cost. Is a key member of the manufacturing team who may lead kaizen events in support of continuous process improvement and lean manufacturing. This is a generic job description applicable to all product lines. Typical Responsibilities:
- Monitors production schedules, material and human resources
- Conducts kaizen events toward the goal of continuous process improvement
- Identifies and solves operational problems
- Determines workforce requirements to meet production schedules
- Creates and maintains reports and production documentation to reflect schedules, performance, quality and on-time delivery
- Sets and enforces high standards of safety
- Hires, trains, evaluates and directs employees
- Makes recommendations regarding materials, equipment and processes
- Four year degree in manufacturing, manufacturing engineering or related field preferred but not required
- At least two years of trade school with an emphasis in mechanical design or electronic technology or more than five years of relevant experience
- At least five years supervisory experience in a manufacturing plant, preferably in an electromechanical environment for the aerospace/defense industry
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
- Able to read documents and computer screens
- Able to move around an office building and up stairs
- Able to sit/stand for long periods of time
- Able to type on a computer keyboard
- Able to communicate through a telephone
- Able to communicate with co-workers
