American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a high acuity PCU oncology telemetry position, requiring OH or compact RN licensure and experience with progressive care patients.
Job Details
- Work in a 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 progressive care beds in a hospital setting,
- Primary patient population includes adults with solid tumor, orthopedic, and thoracic oncology diagnoses,
- Small number of med/surg patients and rare pediatric cases handled mostly by permanent staff,
- PCU patient ratios are typically 1:3; med/surg telemetry ratio is 1:4-5 but may vary,
- Uses specialized equipment such as B450 GE telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, bladder scanners, PCA pumps, and continuous bladder irrigation,
- Charting system not specified,
- Must float to units with equivalent or lower acuity as needed,
- Self-scheduling is available with variable weekend shifts,
- First week includes Monday-Friday dayshift orientation; second week with 36 hours of precepted unit orientation,
- Available shifts include days (3x12, 07:00-19:30) and nights (3x12, 19:00-07:30),
Job Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required,
- Current BCLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications,
- High acuity PCU experience required,
- At least 2 years of oncology nursing experience preferred, but not required,
- Strong skills in dysrhythmia interpretation, responding to rapid response calls, and care of lines, tubes, and drips-including cardiac, PCA, and insulin,
- Experience with blood product administration, feeding tube care, port access, and use of specialized respiratory support devices,
- Ability to float to related or less acute units,
Additional Information
- Primary responsibilities include managing high-acuity oncology and med/surg telemetry patients with a focus on infection prevention and fall safety,
- Participate in team-based care with support from experienced permanent staff, especially for rare pediatric cases,
- Detailed orientation is provided during the first two weeks, including hands-on preceptorship,
- Holiday and weekend scheduling coverage may be required as determined by unit needs,
- First-time travelers will be considered,
- Scrub and dress code requirements not specified,
