American Traveler is hiring an RN for a high acuity PCU Oncology Telemetry position requiring strong progressive care experience and OH or compact RN licensure.
Job Details
- Work in a hospital-based Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a medical oncology focus,
- Patient population includes adult oncology, solid tumor, orthopedic and thoracic oncology with rare pediatric cases,
- Unit is a 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU level care,
- Typical ratios are 1:4-5 for Med Surg Telemetry and 1:3 for PCU,
- Self-scheduling requests available, with day or night 12-hour shifts,
- Patients may require continuous bladder irrigation, telemetry monitoring, and use of specialized equipment such as B450 monitors, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, and PCA pumps,
- Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity,
- Uses GE telemetry system,
Job Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required,
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certifications required,
- Minimum of two years high-acuity PCU experience required,
- Oncology experience preferred but not required,
- Experience with telemetry and progressive care equipment required,
- Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and respond to rapid response situations,
- Strong skills in central line management, blood product administration, feeding tube management, PCA, and tracheostomy care,
- Ability to manage cardiac drips, chest tubes, and various respiratory therapies,
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include caring for high acuity oncology patients and implementing strict infection prevention and fall reduction protocols,
- Team includes support staff with orientation period involving preceptor support,
- First week of orientation on dayshift Monday through Friday, followed by 36 hours of on-unit preceptor orientation,
- Weekend shifts are variable based on staffing needs,
- Chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and other advanced skills are preferred but not required,
