American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry and neuro experience, Indiana or compact RN license, and flexibility with weekend shifts.

Job Details

- Work in a hospital-based Progressive Care Unit with neuro and trauma patient populations,

- Typical patient diagnoses include CVAs, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, seizures, traumatic brain injuries, surgical and trauma cases,

- Staffing ratios are generally 1:3-4, with up to 1:5 in emergencies,

- Care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring and management of drips,

- Requires proficiency in Cerner EMR charting,

- Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30),

- Must be flexible to work 50% of the weekends during the contract as needed,

- Floating expected to similar units (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) within the hospital or nearby affiliates,

- May be required to serve as charge nurse based on operational needs, with training provided,

Job Requirements

- Active Indiana or compact RN license required at time of consideration,

- Minimum 18 months to 2 years of relevant experience in a progressive care or similar setting,

- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (AHA & RQI accepted),

- Demonstrated experience with telemetry, drips, and neuro care,

- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program,

- Cerner EMR experience required,

- Management of drips required,

- Conscious sedation and Level 1 trauma experience preferred,

- Not accepting local candidates for this position,

Additional Information

- May be assigned to precept or have students shadow during the assignment,

- First-time travelers are welcome to apply,

- All travelers may float within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed,

- Must work two out of three major holidays,

- Return to work as a traveler requires a 12-month break from prior perm or PRN employment at IU,

- Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned as needed with appropriate support and training,

- Up to five days of requested time off (RTO) can be auto-approved,
