POSITION SUMMARY:
The Desk Attendant Lead works with theStudent Housing Coordinator to develop and handle staff schedules for the hoursof 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. to guarantee adequate coverage and efficiency. Creatingshifts, aligning coverage with operational requirements and employeepreferences, addressing scheduling issues and maintaining reliable records andreporting. Ensure that workers take breaks and transfer between buildings whenneeded to complete interruptions at night.
In addition to the significant distinction ofscheduling, this position will essentially encompass many of the sameobligations as a full-time desk attendant. The individual must possess someextra authority to do this function properly given that they will be crucial inthe tracking of schedules and adjusting the coverage performed by the otherstaff members.
DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedulecreation: Create and monitor daily, weekly, or monthly staff schedules toassure proper coverage for desk operations within the department during theirshift time frame.
Availability management: Monitor staff availability, including time offrequests, vacations, and sick leave.
Conflict resolution: Promptly handle and settle last-minute modifications,schedule problems, and adjustments.
Compliance: Verify that schedules for hours, breaks, and overtime adhere tocorporate policy and all applicable labor regulations.
Coordination: Collaborate with the Student Housing Coordinator, BusinessManager and other departmental personnel to align staffing levels withoperational needs.
Communication:Clearly tell management and employees of schedule modifications, updates, andpertinent information.
Record keeping: Maintain correct and up-to-date scheduling records, employeeinformation.
Systemmanagement: Utilize and manage scheduling software and other tools to develop,post, and update schedules.
Perform standard desk aide functions.
Completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred qualifications:
1-3 years ofexperience.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination ofexperience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilitiesrequired to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is notlimited to, the following:
Good communication skills arenecessary as this position will deal with understanding and properly relayingneeds of both students and staff.
As with all front desk staff, customerservice is a major element of the job, including dealing with students andmembers of the public in situations that may be difficult.
Good analytical and planning skills inorder to manage adapting the schedule as needed are a must.
Ability toestablish and maintain effective working relationships with the UniversityCommunity.
