Job title: Health Information Services Technician

Shift/Hours: Day 5x8-Hour (08:00 - 16:30)
Summary:
The Medical Records/Release of Information (ROI) Specialist is responsible for processing and fulfilling medical records requests in compliance with HIPAA regulations and internal policies. The role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and strong communication skills to ensure that sensitive patient information is released appropriately and securely to authorized parties, including patients, providers, law offices, and other external entities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience using Epic's Release of Information module and a solid understanding of confidentiality and privacy standards in healthcare.
Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years of experience in medical records or health information management.
* At least 1 year of experience with EPIC ROI (Release of Information module) is required.
* Understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality policies.
* Experience handling medical records requests from patients, legal representatives, and healthcare providers.
* Proficiency with Kofax, e-fax systems, and PDF applications.
* Demonstrated data entry accuracy of 95% or higher.
* Preferred: RHIT or RHIA certification (not required).
* Strong customer service and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple requests in a timely and compliant manner.
Responsibilities include :
* Receive, prioritize, and process medical record requests in compliance with HIPAA and applicable state/federal laws.
* Use EPIC's Release of Information module to manage and track requests.
* Handle customer inquiries related to patient records and assist with the submission of valid requests.
* Ensure accuracy and security in the handling and transmission of confidential medical information.
* Educate requesters about confidentiality and privacy regulations.
* Utilize tools such as Kofax, e-fax, and PDF applications to process and distribute documents.
* Identify and escalate any issues or requests that require additional review or clarification.
* Maintain excellent records of requests and activities in accordance with organizational standards.
* Provide high-level customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Support the HIM team in maintaining compliance and efficiency within the department
