American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Blood Cancer Oncology Unit position requiring a CO or compact state RN license and strong compassion for oncology patients.
Job Details
- Position is in the hospital-based Blood Cancer Oncology Unit,
- Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM,
- 18-bed unit with a patient ratio of 3-4:1,
- Staffing includes a charge RN (without patient assignment), 3-5 RNs, and 1 CNA on days,
- Types of equipment used include telemetry, bladder scanner, Alaris pump, and Alaris PCA,
- Common procedures include lumbar puncture, bone marrow biopsies (with and without sedation), and thoracentesis,
- Uses Meditech EMR,
Job Requirements
- Active CO or compact RN license required,
- Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience, with at least 1 year in oncology preferred,
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or ARC,
- Chemo and biotherapy certification required for all oncology RNs,
- Demonstrated compassion for oncology and chronic patient populations,
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to fast-paced situations,
Additional Information
- Care for highly acute hematology and oncology patients using standing orders,
- Participate in procedures including conscious sedation and fluid bolus administration,
- Work as part of a collaborative team including RNs, CNAs, and a charge nurse,
- Step-down experience is preferred due to the acute acuity of patients,
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months will be accepted,
- Scrub or dress code details not specified,
