Position Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and documenting skilled nursing care in accordance with the care plan and physicians’ orders for each patient while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Essential Job Functions
Deliver and coordinate quality patient care per physician orders.
Continuously observe and assess patient condition and report changes as appropriate.
Document all activities, assessments, nursing actions, and coordination of care in a timely manner.
Develop, implement, and update nursing care plans.
Takes appropriate nursing actions based on assessment and achieves expected outcomes.
Recognizes changes in patient needs and implements care to prevent or reduce risk.
Complies with Aveanna policies, state and federal regulations, and the Nurse Practice Act.
Provides infection control measures per OSHA standards.
Educates patients and families regarding disease process, self‑care, and prevention strategies.
Stays current with nursing competencies through educational programs and continuing education.
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
Current, unrestricted state RN license.
Current CPR certification.
Proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with nursing care policies.
Additional State‑Specific Requirements
South Carolina – 1 year of pediatrics experience.
California – 1 year of experience under current nursing license.
Louisiana – 1 year of experience as a licensed nurse.
Continuing education as required by state.
Additional Discipline‑Specific Requirements
Medical Oncology RN – 2 years RN experience with cardiac monitoring and oncology.
Ambulatory RN – 2 years experience with vital assessment, plan of care, and telephone triage.
Medical Surgical RN – 2 years RN experience.
Peri‑Operative Care RN – 2 years RN experience, preferably with oncology.
Preferences
At least 6 months recent experience as a licensed nurse in a clinical setting.
Home health experience.
Other Skills/Abilities
Attention to detail.
Time management.
Effective problem‑solving and conflict resolution.
Good organization and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
Must be able to travel.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting.
Must be able to sit and climb stairs.
Must have visual and hearing acuity.
Must have a strong sense of smell and touch.
Must be able to reposition patients and move equipment without assistance.
Must respond appropriately to emergencies in the home or during transport.
Environment
Must be able to function in varied environments with potential exposure to allergens.
Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.
