Highway Maintenance Worker I - Small Equipment Operator (61034178) *RE-ADVERTISEMENT*

Job Responsibilities
Operate powered tools and hand tools for vegetation management maintenance.
Assist with placement of traffic control devices to set up a maintenance work zone.
Serve as a flagger to safely direct and control traffic in maintenance work zones.
Operate small equipment such as a dump truck or forklift.
Pick up litter, debris and dead animals.
Assist in emergency and inclement weather operations; may be available for extended hours or 12‑hour shifts, day or night.
Operate standard dump truck with snowplow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highway and bridges.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements No minimum training or experience requirements for this classification.
Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement.
The physical demands for the essential functions involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week, especially during inclement weather.
