Job Description
The University of Florida Large Animal Hospital is seeking a self-motivated and compassionate part-time veterinary technician to become part of our team. This position requires a flexible schedule and a willingness to work on-call during nights, weekends, and holidays, with additional hours expected to cover staff leave.
Responsibilities
Perform medical treatments and procedures under the supervision of senior staff on our 24/7 open unit.
Provide care for horses and be prepared to treat additional livestock including goats, pigs, alpacas, cattle, sheep, and llamas.
Respond promptly to on-call requests, arriving within 30 minutes of being called in.
Assist with patient restraint, lifting, and handling, ensuring safety for staff and patients.
Maintain accuracy in veterinary records and support nursing staff in daily operations.
Qualifications
Experience handling horses.
Physical ability to lift at least 50 lbs and to bend, kneel, squat, and restrain patients for extended periods.
Reliable transportation and proximity to the University of Florida Veterinary School.
Preferred: Current employment as a veterinary technician.
Salary $15.00 per hour.
