Job Summary:

Assist library staff with the daily functions at library desks.

Essential Duties

Basic customer service

Check in/out library materials using the Sierra computer system

Assist patrons in locating library materials

Re-shelve library materials using the Library of Congress call number system

Handle monetary transactions involving payment of fines, etc.

Perform basic computer and clerical tasks

Keep work area and library areas neat and orderly

Assist with disinfecting computer keyboards/mice, study tables and study rooms

Stock paper and change toner in library printers

Communicate effectively with library patrons

Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

MWSU Student

Degree Seeking

At least an overall 2.0 GPA

Enrolled at least part‑time

May need to qualify for Federal Work Study

Preferred Qualifications

Federal Work Study eligible students are encouraged to apply.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent customer service skills

Effective interaction and communication with patrons and library staff

Ability to push/pull a 50‑lb cart of books

Ability to shelve and retrieve library materials

Basic computer and clerical skills with attention to detail

Detail‑oriented approach

Physical Demands Medium work: Occasionally exert up to 50 lbs of force, frequently up to 20 lbs, constantly up to 10 lbs to move objects.

Hours of Work

Average 18 hours per week

Must be able to work nights and/or weekends between 9:00 am – 9:00 pm
