SAIC is seeking a junior level
System Administrator
in
Huntsville, AL
to perform system administration and other information technology activities in an engineering environment. The selected candidate will be assisting in hardware and software installation, configuration, troubleshooting, scanning, patching and backup of client servers/workstations. They will perform hardware upgrades, software upgrades, apply security patches, apply recommended operating system (OS) patches, test and install desktop software, add and remove user accounts, provide system performance tuning, and perform backups and restores.
Day-toIntoDay Responsibilities In this role, you will work directly in the office with another System Administrator as part of a collaborative team. You will play an essential part in performing routine system checks, applying updates, and helping maintain network security. Additionally, you will assist in providing technical support to users and documenting key procedures. While you’ll have plenty of independent tasks, you will also have a chance to learn from and collaborate with your senior colleague, ensuring a supportive and hands-on environment for growth and development.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, workstations, and networking equipment.
Perform system backups, restores, and disaster recovery operations.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve tickets in a timely manner.
Ensure all IT hardware and software are functioning correctly and support users with technical issues.
Perform routine security checks and help enforce IT policies, including password management and access control.
Assist with software updates, patches, and system upgrades.
Provide technical support to staff, including troubleshooting hardware/software issues.
Document IT procedures, processes, and configurations.
Qualifications Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or additional 6+ years of equivalent experience) and 2+ years of experience
Clearance Requirements
Must possess an active Interim Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance for consideration; US Citizenship required.
Required Qualifications/Skills
1-2 years of experience in IT system administration or a related technical role.
Familiarity with Windows operating system.
DOD Computing Environment (CE) is required
Security+ is required
Recommended Qualifications/Skills
Familiar with DoD STIGs
Familiar with ACAS scanning
Basic understanding of VMWare technology
