What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
Identify cases for registration, including malignancies and cases selected by medical staff
Analyze, abstract, and code selected cases using various oncology manuals
Serve as a liaison to internal and external customers regarding registry functions
Review quality control reports and collaborate with physicians and cancer registrars
Maintain automated records and manual filing systems for the efficient functioning of the registry
What is Required (Qualifications)
Oncology Data Specialist certification required within two years of hire
Excellent knowledge of medical terminology and cancer staging
Strong working knowledge of Commission on Cancer accreditation standards
Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers
Intermediate proficiency with MS Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Coursework in anatomy and physiology
Experience working in a CoC Accredited facility
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple accounts and shifting prioritiesTechnical savvy with a strong desire to learn new systems and technology
