Industrial Craft Electrician – Kennecott Copper

About the Role We are seeking skilled and safety‑conscious Craft Electricians to maintain and troubleshoot electrical equipment and infrastructure across one of the world’s most iconic open‑pit mining operations.
Responsibilities
Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on electrical systems from 12 V DC to 13.8 kV AC—including switchgear, transformers, and distribution panels.
Diagnose and repair AC and DC motors, including motor control circuits and starters.
Maintain and troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs) and soft starters.
Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation devices such as proximity sensors, level sensors, RTDs, and pressure sensors.
Inspect, test, and repair electrical cables, terminations, and connections.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and site‑specific policies.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support system upgrades and commissioning.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a high‑performance maintenance team.

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electrical technology preferred.
Minimum of five years of experience in industrial or mining electrical maintenance.
Proven experience working with medium‑voltage (MV) systems up to 13.8 kV.
Solid knowledge of electrical troubleshooting techniques and proficiency with test equipment such as multimeters and megohmmeters.
Familiarity with PLC systems and basic automation controls is a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced mining environment.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass site‑specific safety training.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
Willingness to work in various environmental conditions.
Availability for overtime and rotating 12‑hour shifts (day and night).
