MAINTENANCE WORKER I – PUBLIC WORKS LANDSCAPE An Equal Opportunity Employer.

Nature of Work This is routine, limited, semi-skilled manual labor in the maintenance of City neighborhoods, grounds and facilities.

Essential Functions

Cut grass and weeds, rake grass and trash, trim, cut down and remove trees and shrubs.

Dig and refill ditches, load and unload trucks, condition walls and woodwork prior to painting.

Conduct animal recovery, pickup and disposal tasks.

Work outside in inclement weather conditions and perform light to moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs) as needed; rare occasions may require lifting up to 80 lbs.

Perform minor repairs to sewers, septic tanks, catch basins and manholes.

Drive a City vehicle that does not require a CDL.

Wash and steam vehicles, tools and equipment in the automotive shop.

This position is considered an "Essential Position" for the purpose of Emergency Management. Emergency duties will be assigned as needed. The position requires 24 hours a day, 7 days per week availability during City of Miami emergencies, as determined by City Administrators, the Emergency Manager, or City Officials.

Minimum Requirements

At least 6 months of experience performing unskilled labor.

A valid driver’s license from any state (equivalent to a State of Florida Class E) may be used upon application; a State of Florida Driver’s License (Class E or higher) is required prior to appointment and must be maintained valid throughout employment.

Eight‑grade education preferred.

Proof that all required documents are clear, legible, and in proper format.
