Position Information Classification Title: Student Employment Program (FWSP/STEP)
Working Title: Computer Science Student Event Assistant
Annual Hours: As needed or assigned, not to exceed 25 hours per week.
Placement Range: $10.00

Reports To: Dept. Chair/Dean of Business and IT
Eligibility: Current OCCC student enrolled in minimum 6 credit hours Fall/Spring or 3 credit hours Summer, or with federal work study award.
Responsibilities
Assist the Department Chair in planning, coordinating, and hosting department events (lunch & learn, lectures, student meetings, workshops).
Coordinate event logistics, including room reservations, promotional materials, technical setup and support.
Create event announcements for distribution.
Maintain an organized calendar of events and assist in tracking attendance and collecting feedback.
Represent the department and contribute to a safe educational and working environment.
Qualifications
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other visual communication software tools to create flyers, promotional videos, etc.
Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings for events.
Current student at OCCC, preferably in Computer Science or related field.
Minimum of 6 credit hours Fall/Spring or 3 credit hours Summer, or federal work study award.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions This position requires frequent communication with students, faculty, staff, and others, moving around the department, operating a computer, and occasionally handling up to 20 pounds of force. Work may be performed in an indoor office setting.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred students with experience in event coordination and academic department operations.
Job Duties (Summary) Collaborate with the Department Chair to plan and execute departmental events. Coordinate logistics, create announcements, maintain calendars, and ensure safety and health procedures are followed.
