Pay Range Base pay: $86,681.00/yr – $109,650.00/yr (actual pay depends on skills and experience)
Job Description Under the general direction of the Information Technology Specialist 4, the Information Technology Specialist 3 will serve as the Printer Lead for the NYS Office of IT Services (ITS), Dedicated Support, Public Safety (NYSP), Workplace Services Unit. The role requires occasional lifting of equipment up to 50 pounds, intermittent travel, and some overtime. Responsibilities include:
Product owner for NYSP printer programming and solutions
Install, configure, and troubleshoot multi‑function and network printers
Perform supervisory responsibilities as applicable
Manage and maintain printer support for NYSP
Review and assign IT Service Management (ITSM) tickets within the designated assignment group
Lead inventory and surplus of all networked devices
Facilitate and lead regular check‑ins with the centralized procurement team
Lead the team for device administration and configuration
Provide input for device selection, meeting with vendors as necessary to meet NYSP needs
Monitor ITSM work queues to ensure timely resolution of client requests
Collaborate with counterparts in other regional areas as workload dictates
Install, load, and configure software applications
Troubleshoot and provide technical assistance to clients
Document procedural steps for all printer processes
Train and orient users on hardware and software where appropriate
Minimum Qualifications
One year of permanent competitive services as an Information Technology Specialist 3 or in a G‑21 or higher administrative position under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law; or title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law (not a second consecutive transfer exceeding two salary grades)
Required to be on the examination eligible list for the position title at the time of application; must be reachable for list appointment
Additional Comments ITS does not offer permanent employment to candidates who cannot provide documentation of authorization to work permanently in the United States. The policy does not allow hiring F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or sponsoring non‑immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or permanent residence. Some positions may require fingerprinting, up to 25% travel, lifting up to 50 lbs, and may be pending Civil Service approval. Locations in New York City receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment; locations in the Mid‑Hudson receive $1,650 adjustment.
