Summary Energy Transfer is searching for a self‑motivated, fast paced and self‑efficient employee who will support the Energy Transfer Logistics team, responsible for managing the booking of freight transportation and delivery process for project and non‑project based materials, which is vital to the Energy Transfer organization and its requirements. This role is a key factor to on‑time project completion for capital and non‑capital projects. The Logistics Specialist will provide support for project team members in scheduling all aspects of project material deliveries, as well as generating significant cost savings. This individual should have experience in OTR trucking and related activities, as well as respectable knowledge of pipeline, compressor station, meter station, processing plant and measurement materials.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Assist our internal and external clients including Expeditors, Buyers, Project Managers, Field Coordinators, Vendors, and preferred carriers in planning and coordinating orders and determining resources required for shipment of cargo from point of origin to point of destination to ensure product meets the required delivery in the most cost‑efficient method

Support Logistics Supervisor and other Logistics Specialists to manage the freight booking and delivery process for project and non‑project based materials

Contract with outside carriers to haul freight within Energy Transfer guidelines and regulations regarding competitive bid practices, purchasing strategies, and business ethics on a daily basis

Assign loads to carriers in compliance with all State and Federal DOT laws, as well as International Trade Compliance

Arrange transport with Less than Truck Load (LTL) and Small Package/Ground carriers

Identify potential risk and problem areas and provide recommended solutions

Review contractual commitments, customer specifications, and related information to determine the proper logistics or support requirements

Keep accurate and timely records as required by customers, company policies and procedures, and government regulations

Follow up on over‑dimension freight quotes to ensure that the loads can be handled legally across interstate commerce

Handle import and export of required materials via truck, ocean or air freight shipped internationally

Handle damage claims, customs clearance, storage of goods, tariffs, coordination of quality inspection, and corrective action plans for failed materials or late delivery

Provide logistics administrative support

Requirements Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong background in over the road logistics procedures and support tactics

Experience in the logistics field related to the oil and gas industry is a plus

Be highly organized and results driven with the ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects, tasks and programs simultaneously, with changing priorities and deadlines

Be able to handle a strenuous workload in a fast‑paced environment

Time management, organizational skills and having a strong attention to detail is a must

Strong ability to work as part of a team, as well as the ability to work independently as required

Good analytical and problem‑solving skills for determining and providing logistics support and solutions

Good interpersonal skills to interact with internal/external customers, vendors and construction personnel

Ability to deal with change quickly and come up with solid resolutions

Proficient organizational, oral and written communication skills

Ability to interface efficiently and professionally with internal and external clients and suppliers

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Strong personal computer software skills, including MS Office-Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.

Ability to manage a database of information to support the functions of the Logistics Department

Willingness to learn new methods and procedures as well adapt well in a learning environment

Strong knowledge of trucking industry terms including Over the Road (OTR), Less than Truck Load (LTL) and Small Package

Knowledgeable in different modes of OTR transport such as flatbed, stepdeck, stretch trailer, double drops and specialty trailers as well as other modes of transportation

General knowledge of 2020 Incoterms a plus

High school or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years minimum equivalent work experience

Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus but not required

Required Experience Is Commensurate With The Selected Job Level

The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2‑5 years of relevant job related experience

The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 5‑8 years of relevant job related experience

Working Conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Usually, normal office working conditions.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

Occasional overnight travel will be required as needed.

Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
