Architect, Product Management – Air Force Civilian Service Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) seeks an Information Technology Specialist (SYSANALYSIS/APPSW) to serve as an Architect, Product Management (GG-2210-14) under the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) at JB San Antonio – Lackland, Texas.

Pay Range Base pay: $148,275.00/yr – $197,200.00/yr (based on experience).

Location JB San Antonio – Lackland, Texas (Administrative Office Location).

Position Highlights This is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position aligned under Section 1601, Chapter 83 of Title 10. The role involves leading enterprise architecture and modernization strategy across cloud, cybersecurity, data, and AI/ML initiatives, designing scalable, secure, and resilient solutions, and championing innovation that drives measurable impact for warfighters and national security.

Responsibilities • Serve as a “Big Bang Architect” visionary leader for modernizing mission‑driven technology. • Lead enterprise architecture and modernization strategy across cloud, cybersecurity, data, and AI/ML initiatives. • Design scalable, secure, and resilient solutions that strengthen national defense missions. • Collaborate with senior leaders, program offices, and cross‑functional teams to accelerate Zero Trust, digital transformation, and next‑generation technology adoption. • Champion innovation that drives measurable impact for warfighters, defense partners, and national security.

Qualifications / Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Active Guard and Reserve personnel are not qualified.

Must comply with the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.

Extensive background in implementing Infrastructure‑as‑a‑Service (IaaS), Platform‑as‑a‑Service (PaaS), Software‑as‑a‑Service (SaaS) or Storage, Database, Information, Process, Application, Integration, Security, Management, Testing‑as‑a‑Service.

Knowledge of cloud computing deployment models, network design, security architecture, and identity management.

Expertise in digital product design, service management, and translating requirements into technical solutions.

Ability to plan and manage innovative initiatives—AI, cloud services, operating systems, policies, measures—that significantly impact government services or critical agency systems.

Strong analytical and quantitative skills for user needs assessment and resource prioritization.

Knowledge of DoD and Air Force policies, software and technology system platforms, and procurement requirements.

Experience with organizational process improvement, CMMI, risk management, and cybersecurity principles.

Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and stakeholder management.

Acquisition Category IT, Level II; must meet certification requirements per DAWIA within 24 months.

Must have or obtain IA certification within six months per DoD 8570.01‑M.

Required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and annually.
