Job Description QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REPORTS TO:
Principal
JOB GOAL:
Performs secretarial duties in a public school by performing the following duties.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Verifies that items are received in good order, and all necessary documentation is included in the delivery.
Take corrective action as needed if an item is damaged or an order is incomplete.
Coordinate documentation activities for bookkeeping payment, and inventory purposes with appropriate business department staff.
Composes, or transcribes from rough draft, correspondence, bulletins, memorandums, and other material.
Compiles and files student grade and attendance reports in absence of attendance clerk.
Greets visitors to school, determines nature of business, and directs visitors to destination.
Talks with student encountering problem and resolves problem or directs student to other worker.
Answers telephone to provide information, take message, or transfer calls.
Orders and dispenses school supplies.
Accepts and deposits funds.
Disburses funds, records financial transactions, and audits and balances student activity accounts.
Maintains calendar of school events and school newsletter.
Maintains school supply inventory.
Routes incoming mail.
Maintains correspondence and other records.
Maintains staff attendance records.
Maintains ability to use computer as well as other office equipment.
Help with tardy passes.
Admin user for Aesop for substitutes and absences, Timetrak for payroll, Visions for purchasing, School Messenger.
Help in the health office in the health associate’s absence.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Read a variety of manuals; writes documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others.
Understand multi-step written and oral instructions.
Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: accounting/bookkeeping and recordkeeping principles; and office equipment/software.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet and District software, preferred accounting used software and Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and other appropriate technology software).
The ability to type 50 wpm.
Knowledge of appropriate business machines and telephones.
Monitor special system(s), not limited to, including security and fire alarm systems.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
