Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Steward to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our retail environment, ensuring an exceptional shopping experience for our customers. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for customer service. The Steward will also assist in various operational tasks, contributing to the overall efficiency of the store.
Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the store, including sales floors, stock areas, and customer service areas.
Assist with merchandising and stocking products to ensure shelves are well-presented and fully stocked.
Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering inquiries, and assisting with product demonstrations.
Utilize POS systems for transactions and ensure accurate cash handling.
Supervise junior staff members when necessary, providing guidance and support in daily operations.
Engage in upselling techniques to promote additional products to customers.
Perform basic math calculations for inventory management and retail math tasks.
Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a grocery store or retail environment is preferred.
Supervising experience is a plus, showcasing leadership capabilities.
Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with customers.
Basic math skills for handling transactions and inventory counts.
Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply as it enhances communication with diverse customers.
Experience in merchandising and stocking is advantageous.
Excellent phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries effectively.
