Overview Burns & McDonnell is a market leader in providing program management services to the utility industry. Our Transmission & Distribution global practice is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) for the North Texas Region. The APM will assist project managers on a variety of projects of varying complexity, and may manage some smaller projects independently. The role serves as a coordinator and project liaison to clients, subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders, ensuring project goals are achieved within the prescribed timeframe and budget.
Responsibilities
Support Project Management Teams in planning, executing, and monitoring projects through all stages, including siting, permitting, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, procurement, construction oversight, and closeout.
Manage contractors' submittals, requests for information, supplemental design instructions, and site drawing logs.
Verify contractor compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and material management programs.
Execute contracts, including change order management, field change directives, invoice approval, and schedule management.
Assist with project controls efforts, including cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structure establishment, accounting system setup, and field progress tracking.
Assist with the development of internal and external reports, such as budgeting, cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and status updates to stakeholders.
Close out contract and project documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related accredited program and a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), Program Management Professional Certification (PgMP), or related certification is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, demanding work environment and to work overtime on short notice.
High proficiency using Microsoft Office.
Ability to collaborate with owners, contractors, project managers, engineers, and designers in a multi‑discipline team environment to resolve design or drawing issues and accomplish objectives.
Creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
Travel to project locations may be required, with travel expected to be about 50% of overall time.
Additional Details Primary location: Fort Worth, TX. Schedule: Full‑time. Travel: Yes, about 50% of the time. Salary range: $138,000.00–$145,000.00. Job ID: 260107. Job posting will remain active for a minimum of 72 hours until filled.
