The University of New Mexico's Honors College (HC) provides challenging and enriching opportunities for highly motivated, talented, and creative undergraduates from all majors and colleges. Through small, interdisciplinary seminars and a skills‑based curriculum, the Honors College enhances undergraduate learning and academic engagement.

The Honors College is seeking an Academic Advisement Coordinator to play a vital role in supporting student success and advancing HC's mission of fostering Community, Creativity, and Curiosity. This position provides comprehensive academic advisement services that positively impact student retention,ھی admission, graduation, and overall educational achievement.

This role offers a broader and more nuanced scope of academic advising than many traditional advising positions. The Academic Advisement Coordinator will manage multiple projects and deadlines, work efficiently with minimal supervision, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Duties and Responsibilities In addition to the responsibilities outlined in the Position Description linked below, the successful candidate will be expected to carry out the following primary duties:

Provide comprehensive consultation, guidance, and academic advising to Honors College (HC) undergraduate students regarding academic planning, progress, and long‑term educational strategies.

Serve as a subject‑matter expert in honors advising, effectively connecting students with relevant resources and services across the University of New Mexico (UNM) and collaborating with advising teams in other colleges and schools.

Maintain, process, and update a wide range of records and documentation related to students' academic progress and goals. This includes writing, editing, and coordinating a variety of reports and academic advising materials for HC leadership, such as course catalogs, educational resources, training manuals, and related documents. The role also contributes to the development and revision of advising practices, recruitment initiatives, and curricular programs.

Act in a deputized capacity to support, coordinate, and provide guidance to HC student support staff on advising matters, as appropriate, and in the absence of an advising manager or supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge and understanding of student academic advisement, development, retention issues, trends, and programs in higher education.

Knowledge of the curriculum and administrative requirements for attaining undergraduate degrees and credentials in the Honors College.

Comprehensive understanding of UNM student records management principles, regulations, policies, and procedures.
