Position Summary

TheUNM Global Education Office (GEO) Education Abroad unit is seeking applicationsfor a full-time Study Abroad and Exchange Advisor. This position advisesstudents about study abroad and student exchange, by selecting and preparingstudents for the experience, and by maintaining close working relationshipswith exchange partners and program providers overseas. The position manages alarge portfolio including, but not limited to, bilateral exchanges, studyabroad programs, faculty-led programs, national exchange and will manage otherprojects as assigned. The position is expected to further the strategic goalsand mission of The University of New Mexico and to contribute to theUniversity's and GEO’s diversity and Generation Study Abroad goals. Key Responsibilities Oversee and facilitate portfolio of inbound/outboundstudy abroad programs and exchanges as assigned. Make recommendations tothe director regarding changes or adjustments to programs.Meet/communicate with staff from program providers and exchange/institutionalpartners to help develop a good working relationship. Facilitate program logistics, website updates,advertising/marketing of programs, recruiting of students, and applicationreview/selection of students. Serve as the assigned regional expert and stayup-to-date on new program information, health and safety issues, and workcollaboratively with other members of the EA/GEO team. Advise students about opportunities for exchange/studyabroad by meeting individually with them to determine their interests,qualifications, needs, and assess their academic and linguisticqualifications and personal goals; identify problems and resolve them.Advise students about academic and cultural aspects of the county wherethey will study, health and safety preparations, academic advising,financial aid, transfer credit policies, etc. Process exchange/study abroad transfer credits and meetwith students during post-program debriefings for selected programs. Help coordinate check-ins and orientation events forinternational exchange students. Maintain program information on website and in ViaTRMas needed. Help students coordinate the academic side of theirstudy abroad experience as it relates to course approvals and communicatecourse evaluation decisions to students. Act as a resource to AcademicAdvisors and Faculty about programs. Liaise as necessary with various departments on campusto recruit supporters and students for the programs and facilitateadministrative activities. Handle questions from students, parents, and otherstakeholders. Work with the health, safety team in dealing withemergencies. Lead, mentor, and supervise student employees. Bachelor's degree; no previous experience required. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications

Progressively responsible experience working in astudy abroad office at a four-year college or university. Proficiency in a second language other than English. Experience with ViaTRM or other study abroadenrollment management software. Experience with Banner enrollment managementsoftware. Additional Requirements

This position is eligible for a remote work agreement (RWA), to include Hybrid work arrangement. A hybrid work schedule can be arranged after probationary period has been completed. 2 days-work remote and 3-days in office. Remote work may be overridden by operational needs. Renewal of Term Appointments is not guaranteed; the remote work arrangement, operational, and business needs will be considered in determining whether to renew the Term Appointment.
